Getting repeat customers for your detail shop
Reminders that customers agreed to, maintenance packages, before-and-after photos, reviews and easy rebooking: honest ways to bring detailing customers back.
A new detailing customer costs a lot to win. A returning one costs almost nothing. These habits bring people back.
Remind them, with permission
A reminder when it's time for the next wash or wax works well. Ask first: get the customer's OK before sending marketing texts or e-mails, keep a record of it, and make it easy to stop. In the US, marketing texts in particular need the customer's written consent.
Offer a maintenance plan
- After a full detail, offer a lighter maintenance wash every few weeks at a set price
- Customers like knowing the price, and you get steady work on the calendar
Before-and-after photos
Take them on every job. Send the customer theirs (people share them), and with their OK use the best ones on your website and social pages. Leave out licence plates and anything personal in the car.
Ask for the review at the right moment
The best time is when the customer sees the finished car. A text or card with a direct link to your Google review page makes it a 30-second job. Never pay for reviews or offer a discount in exchange: it breaks Google's rules.
Make rebooking effortless
- Offer the next appointment before they leave
- Keep each customer's car, past services and preferences on file, so the next visit feels personal
- Follow up if a regular hasn't been in for a while
